Olmec: Music
The Desert
(Olmec)
Olmec
Living in the desert, it wasn't easy
But we learned to live in the desert
Finding the water wasn't easy, no
But the water, it was there for us to find.
So we sang when we found it
We sang 'cause we found it
We sang and we danced
Where there are no words to hear, no words to hear.
We knew we would not find the kind of food
Our bodies grew up on in the desert
We knew we would not find the kind of food
Our bodies grew up on.
So we moved to the east, we struggled to the west
Eating anything, always doing our best
And we sang in the morning
We sang in the noonday
We sang in the evening
Where there are no words to hear
No words to hear.
Finding the land to call our own, you know it wasn't easy
Finding materials for shelter, you know it wasn't easy, no
So you know what we did,
We shook up the world to build our own
Everybody got to build their own.
And this is why we sang, sang,
We sang like the land does
Where there are no word to hear, no words to hear.
Now in the evenings my friends and I would sit around this rock stone stove
Me ancestors would sing some mighty, mighty old songs
Songs so old few of us remembers hearing them
Songs so potent they could liberate a dying soul.
And we sang in the daytime
We sang beyond the sun
We sang beyond the galaxies
Where there are no words to hear
No words to hear, no words to hear
No words to hear
Ain't no words, ain't no words, no words to hear.
No words to hear
No words to hear
No words, no words to hear.
